C: We changed our route today at the suggestion of our brother in law. We took 395 down from Carson city down the east side of the Sierra Nevada Mts. To say that the vista was spectacular is not doing it justice. There were some down sides though. In one stretch of 10 miles the temp went from a cool 72 to 95. Boy what a change. It gradually cooled and warmed the rest of the way to Bishop, Ca. Where it is now 93...but it only feels like 89. 5:30pm Great 'mc' roads here. Everyone thinks that switchbacks are fun on a bike, well let me tell you, you can take them and #@%* them. As the driver you can't see anything cause you're concentrating on the road. Maybe a quick glance but back to the road fast.
Tomorrow at 6 am its supposed to be 66 at 9 am its supposed to be 81. Thank God we'll be on the road to San Bernardino where its going to be 93...but it'll only feel 89

V: We started about 11am today, so that we could see Kit and Todd's booths at the Art Fair. Kit even put us both to work getting her paintings up and misc.. It was great fun to see her creative works. I really like her art. I am very proud of her and her perseverance. The sign of a great artist! Todd was doing a good business with several customers. After hugs and well wishes, we set out for the back side of the mts in Tahoe.
Super big change in terrain - dry and only bushes. These photos are in order of our day. Lake and Mts changed to dry and flat. I am getting much better at taking photos on the back of a motorcycle traveling at 55-70 mph. Some of these photos show the various shades of rock and layers of trees or no trees, snow, baroness, rocks thrust through the earth's crust, a lively aqua stream that built into a river, and gorgeous green mountain shots. All of it breath taking. We both said many "WOW!'s" today. I took 117 photos today - thank God for digital cameras - so you are getting only a smattering.

We came around a corner and out of nowhere, there was a charming restaurant, motel and camping site...Virginia Creek Settlement. It is at the south end of Bridgeport. The best Italian food I've had in years and the salad dressings are all homemade and yummy! The people are delightful too. The inside is decorated in upscale antique tools and photos. This is a must "do" for anyone traveling 395.

Curt just interrupted this blogging to have me come out and enjoy the sunset. This is the biggest "WOW!" of the day. The whole sky was lit up with the sun bouncing off the bottom of the clouds. It went from yellow to gold to orange to red, peach, pink then into muted blues and purples, while the clouds shifted shapes.
Amen.
